Wedding Preparations: 8 Must-have Garments For The Groom’s Attire

As you and your wife embark on the new chapter of your lives, there are a lot of things to prepare to come up with a beautiful wedding ceremony. Moreover, to achieve this, you should plan things out based on both of your decisions.

One of the most important elements of a wedding is the outfit of the bride and the groom. It’s best if your outfits are well-coordinated so that you’ll both look good on your special day.

When it comes to the groom’s outfit, you should make a list to avoid forgetting anything. The processing of the outfit can last for 2 to 4 months depending on the availability of your preferred design.

But apart from that, there are also accessories to consider. Here are the most important pieces of clothing for the groom!

1. Suit

It’s easier to choose an outfit for your wedding if you always wear a suit. Suits are usually worn for a less formal wedding so you should wear one if your wedding venue is at the beach or in a garden.

Although buying a new suit may seem costly, you shouldn’t worry about it since you can still use it for other occasions in the future. Moreover, as mentioned before, it’s best if the attire of the groom and the bride matches together, especially since you have ample time to prepare for it.

However, if you think choosing the right colour of the suit is easy, well, it’s not. Unless you have a colour motif, it might take you a while to pick the right shade of suit that you can still use in the future.

2. Dress shirt

Next on the list is the dress shirt. Just like any other attire, you should also coordinate your dress shirt with your suit even if others will only see some parts of it. In the end, the overall outfit should look good.

Most of the time, the dress shirt is just the lighter version of the suit. So for instance, if you’re going to wear a dark green suit, then you should opt for a lighter green dress shirt. However, if it’s a themed wedding, then you can be as colourful as you like.

3. Tie

Does your wedding have a colour motif? If yes, then you should still stand out in the crowd. For instance, if your wedding features a lot of green, then you should have a few green wedding ties to choose from. Meanwhile, green wedding ties can also be used to add a pop of colour to black or blue suits.

Wedding ties come in many different shapes and sizes. So if you still have enough time to choose, then it’s possible to find the one that best matches your suit. However, aside from the colour, you should also consider the fabric, the cut, and whether it’s a bowtie or a necktie.

4. Belt

Usually, the belt also matches the colour of the suit especially if it’s an all-black suit and tie. However, in some cases, a different colour of the belt can also make an outfit look stunning. For instance, if you’re going to wear an emerald suit, then you can also use a brown belt.

Another option is when you’re wearing a belt that matches your tie, like a blue tie and belt paired with a grey suit. Overall, the safest colour of the belt that you can pair with a lot of suits is the brown one.

5. Pocket square

Here’s another piece where you can have the opportunity to colour coordinate! A pocket square is a cloth folded in a square and placed in the pocket of the suit or coat. It’s not a typical garment that people wear every day. That’s why it’s a great addition to the groom’s attire.

When it comes to colour coordination, you can also have a lot of options when choosing the pocket square. Sometimes, 3-in-1 packages include a pocket square, a tie, and a dress shirt so you won’t have to get confused when picking each of them.

6. Cufflinks

Are you the kind of groom that doesn’t like a lot of jewelry? Then you should just invest in cufflinks. Just like any other piece of jewelry, there are formal and casual kinds of cufflinks so make sure that the one you choose matches your shirt.

Decades ago, cufflinks are a symbol of high society and powerful businessmen. However, nowadays, anyone can wear it even if it’s just for casual occasions. If you’re one of those who love you collect cufflinks, then it’ll be easier for you to find the right one for your wedding.

7. Socks

How do you pick the best pair of socks for your wedding? If you think it’s not worth the pressure to pick the best ones since it’s almost not visible, then you have a point. However, your wedding comes only once in a lifetime so it’s best to make an effort.

For a formal to a semi-formal wedding, pick a pair of socks that’s a bit darker like grey or blue. However, if you want to go fun and colourful, then it’s up to you.

8. Shoes

Oh, the shoes! It’s the simplest yet the most important part of your attire. Aside from the colour and the material, comfort should be on top of the list when choosing shoes. Imagine you’ll have to stand for a while and even dance so you should pick a pair of shoes that will help you stay comfortable for hours.

Sometimes, you may encounter shoes that are a bit slippery when more. So while you have enough time to prepare, you should at least where the shoes for at least 10 minutes before buying them.

Isn’t it nice to feel comfortable and stylish on your special day? However, at the end of the day, what matters most is that you have a successful and fun wedding. As long as you and your bride enjoyed it, then nothing else matters. Don’t forget to share your wedding stories by leaving a comment below!
